About Our Platform

European Entrepreneurs CEA-PME, Pan African Chamber of Commerce and Industry PACCI, and national members like BVMW/Der Mittelstand , with the support of GIZ/German Cooperation,  provide this matchmaking platform to grow shared value in business for SMEs in Africa and Europe.

This matchmaking platform is the result of promising ideas generated during and after the first EU-Africa SME Summit which was held on 20 & 21 March 2019 at the European Committee of Regions in Brussels.

A strategic roadmap was set for further collaboration based on the business concept of Shared Value. With this new matchmaking tool African and European entrepreneurs can directly connect and match their business interests, projects and ideas.

July 19th at 12pm – 2.30pm GMT

The value of trade between Africa and China rose by 35% from 2020 to $254 billion in 2021, mainly due to an increase in Chinese exports to the continent.

As Africa confronts the challenges of a global economy, it is being forced to make tough choices in negotiating new trade agreements with its major trading partners, especially with a looming recession, the establishment of the AfCFTA and ensuring that these agreements are fair for its economies and population.

In continuation of its Africa Economy Webinars series on “ensuring globalized, competitive, integrated African economies”, Pitch World Fast will be hosting the 19th of July a dedicated session on this topic entitles “ Africa China relationships: what can we expect and how to ensure fair & win-win exchanges?”

SME Crisis Response Webinar 7 - Commodities and Raw Materials in Africa and New Opportunities for African and European Enterprises

July 7th at 10.00 CEST, CAT| July 7th at 08.00 WAT | July 7th at 11.00 EAT

The issues presented in this webinar will tackle the changing scenario of the importance of African commodities from the end of the COVID-19 crisis until the current situation of Russia’s aggression on Ukraine.

On one side, we have the growing fear of increasing food prices, famines and food insecurity, and on the other hand the awareness of the importance of African local goods. Different case scenarios are being analysed in order to overcome this crisis, depending on short, medium or long-term goals in which the best-case scenario would be to avoid food dependency.

Another important topic is the role of European enterprises and their new opportunities from the economic point of view.

To do so, join our SME crisis webinar 'Commodities and raw materials in Africa and new opportunities for African and European enterprises' on July 7th at 10:00 CEST.

Our Speakers

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of many economies in Africa and Europe, e.g. of the first two manufacturing nations in Europe, Germany and Italy. Entrepreneurship, professional training and investment are our focus, as keys for a strong African Mittelstand and a good basis for shared value business, which truly will contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals.

The conference aims to bring European and African entrepreneurs into play, encourage them to cooperate and co-invest, build alliances, joint ventures and partnerships through appropriate support and monitoring structures and mechanisms to verify the effectiveness and impact of their initiatives.

Launch of the Africa IP SME Helpdesk

Furthermore, at the event, EUIPO will launch the Africa IP SME Helpdesk, expected to be operational from October 2021. This is an EU-funded project set up to help SMEs from the EU in the process of creating, protecting, utilising, administering and enforcing intellectual property rights (IPR) across Africa.

Cooperation between the EU and African countries in the Africa IP SME Helpdesk project will provide a unique opportunity for European SMEs to invest in Africa and, in that process, enable African countries to access global business value chains while, at the same time, contributing to sustainable development and economic growth in Africa.

EU-African Shared Value Business Project Launch

The event, that took place in Addis Ababa in October 2019, was the result of promising ideas generated during and after the first EU-Africa SME Summit which was held on 20 & 21 March this year at the European Committee of Regions in Brussels.

The three parties set a strategic roadmap of further collaboration based on the business concept of Shared Value: it was then they decided to test and implement a new match-making tool where European and African entrepreneurs can directly connect and match their business interests, projects and ideas - the platform you are visiting today!

EU-African SME Summit 2019

On March 20th and 21st 2019, European Entrepreneurs CEA-PME hosted the first EU-African SME Summit in Brussels. The event began on the 20th with the Shared Value Business Lab workshop dedicated to find solutions to local issues through business networking. Entrepreneurs from the two continents joined in.

On the afternoon of the second day, the Summit hosted the EU-African SME Conference - an international symposium dedicated to the presentation of key ideas, like the importance of the role of SMEs in development cooperation with Africa, the need to build an SME Alliance between the two continents, and the necessity to create European financial support tools for the investment of small and medium-sized companies in Africa.

During the Summit the Signature of the Memorandum of Understanding for the European-African SME Alliance was signed. The document laid the foundation for the alliance between SMEs in Africa and in Europe.
